The Essence of Nature

Laura Odland was born and raised in a small town in Southern Alberta.  Most of her childhood was spent on farms growing up with her 4 sisters.  After living on Vancouver Island for 8 years she is back in Southern Alberta.

Laura's love for photography started later in life, in her late twenties.  It was born out of her love for wildlife and being out in nature.  Specifically her favorite place close to home, Waterton Lakes National Park.  It is here where she goes to explore, view her favorite wildlife and find solitude, peace and herself when it is lost in this busy world.

Laura wants to share her photos with you.  To bring back memories of when you were last in the mountains, maybe you had a memorable experience viewing a black bear or had the best day out on a hike.  Maybe she can light up those memories of being in your garden or maybe your Mom's, Dad's, Grandma's garden.  Of all the different flowers and the scents!  Did you ever take a Whale Watching tour?  Did you see whales or dolphins?  Do you remember that magical moment of the first sighting and the sound of the blows as they surface the water?  Hopefully Laura's photography will ignite those memories of being out in nature, whether it is your backyard, a tour boat or along a winding stream in the mountains.

“Our task must be to free ourselves… by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty.
